Suggestions for All Hallows Eve
|
- Trick or Treat
- Collect for Carefully Selected Local Charities: Collections can then be sent from
the local charity to specified charities abroad that have a track record of good works.
FOR EXAMPLE: Catholic Charities could collect the Halloween donations and then send them on to
PIME or
CNEWA.
- Do Not Collect: Some well known charities have an abysmal track record - see References below.

Some More Halloween Safety Tips
- Spiritual Safety of Children: Nix the demons and witches and
emphasize the angels and saints:
- Reafirm and Reawaken Feast Days of All Saints and All Souls:
- Several very well advertised church services scheduled for the day.
If All Saints Day is celebrated on a Sunday this will not be a problem
(most churches in US celebrate All Saints on a Sunday). An effort might be
made to have several church services scheduled for All Souls Day, one regularly
scheduled early service and one in the evening. The evening service should
not only commemorate all of the dead, but those in the parish and especially
the infants and children.
- Eucharistic Adoration, at least for a few hours, on
All Hallows Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day.
"Visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament frequently, rejoicing to keep Him company."
Blessed John XXIII
- Healing and counseling services should be scheduled,
especially for All Souls Day, and could include separate meetings for
miscarriage, abortion, and infant death
.
- Grass Roots
- Before approaching church personnel, meet with like-minded people
to start a dialog, create a "brain trust", and put together a proposal.
- After putting together a proposal, meet with the most receptive
of the church personnel. Several things people like to see are well thought out
proposals, discipline, and the potential for follow through.
"The Church, as the Mystical Body of Christ,
had gradually, through the centuries,
attained significant development through
the institution of feasts destined to commemorate
and glorify the mysteries of salvation."
