The Most Historic Truck In The World !
The National Flag Truck is based in Boston Massachusetts, at the Boston National Historic Park, "The Freedom Trail." It carries an historic collection of five 300 pound, 90 foot American Flags, which are stored, under guard, by the United States Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Constitution, "Old Ironsides." The flags are flown with the President, at official Affairs of State, and at national rededications. This specially designed and identified rig has carried the flags to ceremonies in all 50 STATES, and has represented the United States in nine foreign countries, and one Grand Duchy. The Truck has attended well over 600 official ceremonies worldwide, has now clocked over Eight Hundred Sixty Thousand Miles through four White House administrations, and led an historic 14,000 mile over the road, winter expedition to the Arctic Circle. On D-Day, June 6, 1994, it became the first American truck to pass under the English Channel, (London to Paris) through the Channel Tunnel. Since it's inception, the National Flag Truck, and the National Flag Exibit, have been supported by the same type of people who, at great personal risk, became the "small band of patriots" who gave birth to this Great Nation. Although all of the flags are official government property, the National Flag Exibit takes great pride in the fact that there is NO government funding, or taxpayer money involved at all. The idea is that the Flag of the United States should be carried by the people... that it will be the people that accept the challenge of getting the Truck through, and the "honor" of helping to keep our flag flying high around the world. We must insure that the National Flag Truck's remarkable, and distinguished career continues, and that this program is firmly, "kept to standards" into the next century.
